Jen Davidson, RA - Design Manager At Cummings Properties, there is always a lot going on behind the scenes. This week, Jen Davidson, a Cummings design manager and a registered architect, is working on elevation drawings for Cummings’ latest new development, a proposed five-story, 53-unit condominium building for adults 55+. It is planned as the second residential building on the Cummings Center campus in Beverly. What do you love about your job? Wildlife authorities said from the beginning that “Shoebert” would be best off if he were quickly returned to a herd of seals (parvi) outside the harbor. Many people have said they hope Shoebert makes another stop in Beverly next year, too. Beverly’s new short-term citizen was a 235-pound male seal that somehow found his way into the two-level pond at Cummings Center, Beverly. It was not stuck, but it seemed determined to stay there even after having a floodgate lowered during high tide. Shoebert was named after the United Shoe Machinery Co., commonly once known as The Shoe. That building and others are now 2 million-square-foot Cummings Center medical, office, and research campus. Two Cambridge life sciences firms recently joined Woburn’s robust biotech cluster. Vaxess Technologies expanded its operation with a 3,600-square-foot GMP manufacturing laboratory at Cummings Park, and SeromYx Systems relocated its entire operation to an 8,000-square-foot Biosafety Level 2 facility at 299 Washington Street.
