The Baby Mavens: a local resource for expectant parents in Beverly

New and expectant parents now have additional resources to guide them through pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care. The Baby Mavens, which specializes in doula services, has opened at 100 Cummings Center, Suite 435-F.

The company offers birth and postpartum doula services, sleep and lactation consultation, babysitting and overnight care, newborn care education, and sibling support. It also offers “baby concierge services,” which are aimed at helping parents-to-be navigate the world of baby gear and care products.

The Baby Mavens was co-founded by longtime friends Laurie Oesterle and Lauren Gaudet, former nannies with a shared interest in supporting new parents through the early stages of parenthood. Both have received doula training from DONA, the world’s first – and largest – doula training organization.

From a Greek term meaning “a woman who helps,” doulas are trained to assist expectant mothers through labor, delivery, and beyond, working to ensure that mothers achieve a satisfying and healthy birth experience. Interest in doula services across the U.S. is on the rise, according to The Washington Post.

“Being a parent isn’t easy. It comes with many trials and sleepless nights, but our goal is to make that transition just a little bit easier for new parents,” said Oesterle. “We are thrilled to have Cummings Center serve as a launching point to offer our services to families across the North Shore.”

The 1,600-square-foot Cummings Center location is The Baby Mavens’ first business office. Previously, the group operated out a home-based space in Danvers.

“Cummings Center has a variety of resources for area families, including pediatricians, obstetricians, daycare providers, and childhood development services,” said Account Manager Don Fortenbacher. “The Baby Mavens offers a unique service that will complement these offerings.”

Cummings Properties’ portfolio of 11 million square feet of prime space accommodates offices, healthcare facilities, labs, restaurants, retail storefronts, warehouses, executive suites, and more. With a portfolio of this size and variety, the firm can meet almost any commercial real estate need from 150 square feet to 300,000 square feet. Its in-house experts in design, construction, and property management offer “one-stop shopping” for the business community.
